Greetings

You are receiving this email because you were on the CSM-Radio list in 2022. If you don't wish to get CSM-Radio emails, please follow the instructions in the footer of this message or send a direct email to ve3pue@hambone.ca with your request. Apologies if you get multiple copies of this message because I am using a couple of different lists.

As you may know, the CSM will have a full two-day in-person event for February 10&11, 2024. We will need radio operators for both days.

I have updated the CSM Radio Ops website on Hambone with as many details I have at the moment including maps. The organizing committee is still modifying the plans (the maps are version 8!!), but the general shape of the event has been set. There are some significant changes (for skiers, not you) in 2024. One big change is that the ski trail in 2024 will be almost entirely contained in the Kenauk Reserve north of Montebello.

The link to the volunteer form is also active, and a couple of keeners (thanks Leonard and Norman!)  have already signed up.

NOTE: If you signed up last year, you can update your existing volunteer record. The system will email you an edit link if you need it. If you registered last year with a callsign@rac.ca email address, I have changed it to callsign@myrac.ca. That said, I recommend using a direct email address because some ISPs are refusing to deliver mail sent through an alias system - the rules they apply seem to change daily.

If you know of any potential radio ops who may NOT have received this message, please forward it to them or get them to send me an email at ve3pue@hambone.ca and I will add them to the mailing list.

New hams and people studying to get their ticket are more than welcome. The event will be using commercial radios and you do not need to be licensed to operate them. However, this is an excellent opportunity to begin or to practice your public service radio skills on a controlled net in a real event with unpredictable traffic.

So far, there are no COVID-related restrictions or procedures in effect for the event, but the CSM organizers work closely with Santé Québec and always follow whatever guidelines they publish.

Thanks for volunteering in the past! Hope to see you again in 2024 if not sooner.

Neil
