Description: On Saturday and Sunday, June 8th and 9th, the West Carleton Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) will participate in the ARRL June VHF Contest 2024 as multi-op station VE3WCC. VE3WCC will be a field station operating from the Kinburn Community Centre (3045 Kinburn Side Rd, Kinburn, ON) in grid square FN15vj.
Helping with the setup of the station is a great opportunity for beginners to get experience setting up a VHF/UHF contest station. Experienced hams get help to be exposed to VHF and up contest station configuration. You’ll learn how to assemble antennas, towers, rotors, coax, radios, and logging software, and, of course, operate! Please contact us in advance if you are interested in participating.
Although the WCARC has scored very well in past years, this is not the primary focus. More importantly, the goal is to have fun and encourage our members and visitors to try operating VHF and above. We encourage you to visit the station and try your hand at operating, even if it’s only for a short time. VHF contests have a much more relaxed pace than HF contests, so anyone should be able to participate. No contesting experience is required.
The WCARC will be active on all bands from 50 MHz through to 24 GHz. Please contact us during the contest if you’re able to do so, whether from your home station or as a rover. Every contact makes the contest more interesting and helps us increase our score.
This year, WCARC will have an FM simplex station operating on the 2m, 70cm, and 23 cm bands on the following frequencies: 146.550 MHz (primary), 146.520 MHz (secondary). 446.00 MHz, and 1294.50 MHz
