| Description: | On Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, the West Carleton Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) will participate in the 2026 ARRL June VHF Contest as a multi-operator station VE3WCC. It will operate as a field station from the Corkery Community Centre (3447 Old Almonte Road, Carp, Ontario, K0A 1L0) in grid square FN15xg. Helping with the station setup is a great opportunity for beginners to gain hands-on experience assembling and operating a VHF/UHF contest station. Experienced amateurs will also have the opportunity to work with advanced VHF-and-above contest station configurations. Participants will learn how to assemble antennas, towers, rotors, coaxial feedlines, radios, and logging software — and, of course, how to operate the station itself. If you are interested in participating, please contact us in advance. Station setup begins on Friday, June 12, and teardown will take place on Monday, June 15. Although WCARC has scored very well in past years, winning is not the club’s primary objective. More importantly, the goal is to have fun and encourage members and visitors to experience operating on VHF and above. We invite everyone to visit the station and try operating, even if only for a short time, or to assist with setup and teardown. VHF contests generally have a more relaxed pace than HF contests, making them ideal for operators of all experience levels. No contesting experience is required. WCARC will be active on all bands from 50 MHz through 24 GHz. During the contest, we encourage you to contact the station from your home station or as a rover operator. Every contact helps make the contest more enjoyable and contributes to our overall score. FM Simplex Frequencies 146.550 MHz (primary) 146.520 MHz (secondary) 446.000 MHz For more information about participating or to coordinate a contest QSO, please contact Bert, VE2ZAZ, by email at ve2zaz@sympatico.ca , and during the contest weekend at (819) 328-8876. |
